Ajay and I don't agree on scripts much: Kajol
Actress Kajol says that she and her actor husband Ajay Devgn rarely ever agree on a script. "It has to be few movies over the years," Kajol said when asked why the star couple is rarely seen together onscreen.
The 35-year-old mother of two said when her husband feels he has found a "workable" script, she rejects it saying it is too boring and does not work for her.
Ajay and Kajol were last seen together three years ago in his directorial debut "U Me aur Hum".
Since they made their debut in the 1990s, the couple has starred in movies like Hulchul, Goondaraj, Ishq, Pyar to Hona hi Tha and after marriage in Dil Kya Kare, Raju Chacha and U Me aur Hum.
Even though individually this year, Kajol has tasted success with 'My Name is Khan' and Ajay is basking in the success of 'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge', 'Once upon a time in Mumbai', 'Golmaal 3' and 'Raajneeti', Kajol said the biggest celebration for the couple personally has been the birth of their son Yug in September.
The actress said she has no immediate plans to get back to the studios after 'My Name is Khan', 'We are Family' and now 'Toonpur ka Superhero' which releases on December 24. "Raising two children is keeping me very busy. We will talk about my comeback film some years later. I keep making such comebacks," she said.
Kajol said 'Toonpur ka Superhero' is diametrically opposite 'U Me Aur Hum'. "This is a good, fun film," she added.
Speaking about pairing with Ajay, Kajol said over the years, the comfort level is grown. "In the process of working together, we got married," she added.
Kajol said her childhood superhero has been "Superman". "they were eternal classics. Nobody can beat them not even Ajay who plays a superhero in Toonpur...", she added.
"Only thing is Superman is not real. I feel viewers need to identify with the superhero....he has to be real and humane. He has to have his own weakenesses," the actress felt.
Apart from Superman and Phantom, Kajol said her childhood comic books included Tinkle and Bahadur.
Time and again, brands are close to Aishwarya's heart.
If Marcello Rubini had watched Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan glide down the ramp at the launch of the Longines Dolce Vita collection at the Taj Palace hotel on Sardar Patel Marg, he would have approved. Wearing a flowing blue gown by designer duo Gauri and Nainika Karan, Rai-Bachchan made for a pretty picture as she spoke about working with actors Kate Winslet and Chi Ling Lin for the new television commercial
for the brand, shot across Rome. “It is always a pleasure to work with like-minded women, and we had a lot of fun together ,” she said.
To mark the launch of the collection, the Durbar Hall was transformed in to Federico Fellini’s Roma of the 60s, complete with Italian jazz numbers, and a choreographed performance by two dancers
. Models draped in rich shades of wine reds, burgundy, dark greens, blacks and whites, also by the same designers, showcased ten watches from the collection, priced in the range of Rs 95,000 to Rs 2.6 lakh. With husband Abhishek endorsing sister company Omega, the actor insisted that neither of them interfered in the other’s endorsement deals.
“We are extremely loyal to our brands, and do not impose on each others’ preferences,” she quipped.
Depp, Jolie surprised at Golden Globe nods
Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp did not expect to receive two nominations for next year's Golden Globes and was "touched" with the honours.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star is tipped twice in the Best Actor
(Musical or Comedy) category, for his lead roles in Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland' and new film 'The Tourist'.
Depp admits he was surprised when the nominations were announced on Tuesday, saying, "I certainly didn't expect two nominations in the same category, but if that's what they saw, I guess that's what they saw. I'm very touched. It's always very sweet and very nice to be acknowledged for your work."
Depp's 'The Tourist' co-star Angelina Jolie is also nominated for her role in the movie, receiving a nod in the Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) category.
Jolie was pleasantly surprised by the news because she's never been acknowledged in a comedy category before, reported Contactmusic. "You work hard at something and you do a film that you
love and you never know how it will be responded to, and it's been nice that audiences have enjoyed it and seen it, but to be acknowledged in that way is obviously an honour and very, very nice. And we were laughing, because it's the first time I've been in the comedic category, so it's new for me," she said.
The 68th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by British Ricky Gervais, will take place on January 16 in Los Angeles.
Still with the moves, Madhuri returns to TV
In 2002, when Madhuri Dixit made a much-hyped debut on the small screen with the wedding reality show, Kahin Na Kahin Koi Hai, the celebrations ended quickly. The concept failed to catch on and the show tanked. That hasn’t dented the actress’s optimism about television however, as she returned to the small screen as one of the judges on Sony TV’s Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 4.
Despite the slight weight gain, Dixit makes a pretty picture in a bright red saree and bold diamond jewelery when we meet her. "Dance is very close to my heart and the show is on a grand scale. The producers want it to be like the original show, Dancing with the Stars. I liked the concept, so I agreed,” she says.
Based in USA with her husband Shriram Nene and two sons, Arin and Ryan, Dixit says the channel pursued her for two years before she finally gave in. “My sons were young then and at that age, children need their mother. Now they go to school, so I have enough time for myself,” she says. Has the phenomenal dancer been able to teach her little ones to dance? “They are born dancers; they both have rhythm,”she says, proudly.
The show, which started on December 12, has Malaika Arora-Khan and choreographer Remo D’Souza as part of the jury, alongside Dixit. With celebrity contestants, including ex-model Yana Gupta, boxer Akhil Kumar, actor Shekhar Suman, Renuka Shahane and singer Anushka Manchanda amongst others, Dixit is excited. “It is interesting to watch celebrities take to the stage. They are all untrained and that’s what makes it exciting. Taking part in a competition is very different from simply knowing how to dance. Here, the contestants have to excel in dance forms like jive and samba too. It will be tough,” she says.
Dixit’s presence on the show is undoubtedly the main attraction though. But will she be able to successfully fill the shoes of Amitabh Bachchan, whose show Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 has been replaced by JDJ 4 ? “I am under no pressure — I am just having a lot of fun. I am excited to watch the contestants dance and my job will be to guide them. I will give them positive comments so that they are encouraged to do better,” she says.
Salman Khan in Farah Khan’s next
In a reality show, Farah Khan once expressed her desire to make a film with Salman Khan and now the time has come to prove her words. Very soon Farah Khan would direct Salman Khan in her film. After Farah wrap up with ‘Tees Maar Khan’, she would start working on her new project with her new found friend.
On being asked about her new found interest in Salman, Farah said, “Well, this has been in the pipe line for long but now I feel the time has come where I need to do something seriously about it. And imagine the outcome of two mad people getting together. I think I`m mad and Salman is madder. After I finish with TMK, I am considering working on our plans to doing a film together.”
Who will play the lead heroine opposite Salman is yet to be decided but it is confirmed that Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan will never become friends. .
