Deepika Padukone is in pain post rehearsal

Bollywood leading lady Deepika Padukone is in extreme pain these days. No, she is not nursing a broken heart over boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor dumping her, it is her work which is causing the leggy lass a lot of pain. According to reports in the media, Deepika Padukone was in need of a physiotherapist on the sets of upcoming Bollywood film ‘Dum Maro Dum’ after her muscles refused to budge from the strain that they had to go through for a period of six days. Reports claim that it became impossible for Deepika Padukone to even stand straight on her feet after shooting for her upcoming item number was over.

The actress had reportedly mastered the moves for the remixed version of the R D Buman composed track ‘Dum Maro Dum’ for a period of three days under the guidance of choreographers Bosco and Caesar. Post rehearsal, Deepika Padukone had to film the song for another three days. And the constant pressure of dancing, the difficult moves involved in the promotional track of the upcoming film, left her muscles strained. Dips was in so much pain that only medical help could bring her back to normal conditions.

Deepika Padukone has clinched the item number over her peer Katrina Kaif and seniors Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, therefore the extra effort was required to bring out the stylish performance required for the promotional video of ‘Dum Maro Dum’. Sources from the film’s sets have said that Pritam’s remix is a very fast paced number which has to be accompanied with equally fast moves. In a statement to the media, Dips said that she did feel pain while shooting but also flashed her beautiful smile assuring the media that they were not going to miss her for long

Sallu's sarcasm leaves Kat in tears

They've had a bitter break-up only sometime ago. And Salman being Salman got a chance to tease his former girlfriend Katrina with sarcastic comments on Bigg Boss recently. The actress appeared on the show along with director Farah Khan to promote her upcoming film Tees Maar Khan.

According to sources, Katrina looked nervous and awkward on the sets of Bigg Boss. Her ex-beau didn't leave any stone unturned to drive the actress to the edge.
Salman-Katrina

He made digs at her about working with Ranbir Kapoor, her co-star Akshay Kumar and even her ability (or rather inability?) to speak Hindi, reports Mid Day.

A source informed Mid Day, "Before the shoot, things appeared extremely cool. When Farah and Katrina arrived on the sets, Sallu played the perfect host. They even indulged in a game of cricket at his chalet, near the Bigg Boss house. While Farah chose to be a spectator, Kat did a bit of batting while Salman bowled. Everything looked fine but once the cameras rolled, so did the host's witty remarks which were outright sarcastic."

Adds the source, "As Farah stepped inside the Bigg Boss house, Kat was left alone on stage for a greater part of the show. At first, she played along but after a point she couldn't take his digs."

The actress retreated to her make-up room and returned to the sets only after shedding gallons of tears. Poor Kat.

I went into depression, but am back: Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan says he had gone into a depression mode but is now back and full of energy. The 45-year-old superstar also believes he is very poor at expressing his innermost feelings, be it love, anger or friendship.

"I feel so much healthy and refreshed from within - due to the injury and the suffering I had got into a depression mode but now I am out of it. I feel happy and boosted with energy," Shah Rukh told IANS in an interview here. The actor tore a ligament in his shoulder during shooting in 2008 and underwent surgery early last year.

When asked how he copes with the controversies and comparisons, Shah Rukh said he lacked in the art of expression, which is often misinterpreted by the masses.

"I am a different person in my films; I am very vocal and expressive in them, but in my personal life I am a very weird person. I face difficulty when I have to express my innermost feelings. I am very shy, quiet and reclusive as an individual.

"It is not something I am proud of but I lack in the art of expressing my love, my friendship, my anger, my apologies, which people misinterpret at times.

"I am always compared; that is a part of my life. A newcomer comes I am compared; anybody does a film which is a bigger hit, I am compared; anybody does a lesser film, still I am compared. So comparisons don't bother me now."

He is all set to make his small screen comeback with "Zor Ka Jhatka" on Imagine TV, for which he will begin shooting in the new year.

"I started my career from TV when I was nothing; it is a medium which is very close to my heart and now I feel excited to be back on it again."

Shah Rukh made his acting debut in 1988 with the television series "Fauji". After that he went on to appear in several other television serials, most notably in Aziz Mirza's 1989 series "Circus".

King Khan, who has hosted shows like "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (2007) and "Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?" (2008), says TV is his personal favourite.

"I have worked on all the different platforms, be it theatre, films, TV - but genuinely, TV is my favourite."

He, however, feels he lacks knowledge of the television industry. "On many occasions I find myself lacking as far as TV knowledge is concerned. I am not very well-versed with the working of the industry, the terms and terminology of it; so I try to stay away from it," Shah Rukh said.

"When I stand among people from the TV industry, I feel awkward. I feel as if I don't know what they are saying," he said.

He has spent two successful decades in the film industry.

Shah Rukh made his Bollywood debut with "Deewana" (1992) and since then has worked in films like "Baazigar", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Devdas", "Swades", "Chak De! India" and "My Name Is Khan".

And he says he is an original.

"I am the origin and original of what I do. I am the truth and lie of what I do. I am the goodness and the badness of what I do. Twenty years on, when you work the way I have with a lot of integrity and honesty, these kind of thoughts don't come to me.

"It would be very odious and wrong for me to say that I could be ever compared in a pompous sense - it would be wrong for me to say I'm incomparable, but I think it is right to say that I don't like to be compared at all.

"I am not the number one star for myself because I try harder every day; I have always believed that I haven't done the best and could have done better. The day I stop doing that I will stop working."

Asked about his current movie projects, he said, "I am working on quite a few projects as of now. I am in the mode to work round the clock with television and films. I am currently shooting for 'Ra.One', 'Don-2', and Vishal Bharadwaj's film which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 'Two States'."

So what is his selection criterion for scripts?

"I try to keep myself on the other side when I sit to take a decision. I think about it with a third person perspective. I take up projects which I find appealing and grow my interest in them. 'If I like it, others will also like it' - this is how my mind works."

When Katrina hit Akshay hard!

Many feel Katrina Kaif is a delicate darling, but her "Tees Maar Khan" co-star Akshay Kumar doesn't think so.

"We were shooting for the song 'Bade dilwala' and Katrina got so involved in her dance that she actually hit me hard with her elbow. The impact was such that the shooting had to be stalled for two hours," Akshay told reporters here Wednesday.

The actor revealed this during the promotional tour of "Tees Maar Khan" in the capital. He was here with Katrina and director Farah Khan for the film that releases Friday.

Both the stars were greeted with much fanfare. They put their best foot forwad and wowed fans with an impromptu yet sizzling performance of the hit item number "Shiela ki jawani" from the romantic comedy.

"When we shoot for any song, there are often many cuts but I enjoy performing in front of live audiences because the response makes me feel good," Akshay said after his performance.

These days, Katrina is often heard talking in Hindi and she happily obliged when her fans asked her to do so at the event.

Akshay and Katrina also fulfilled the demand of their younger fans by happily dancing with them to the tune of "Bade dilwala".

Not only that, when Akshay spotted a little girl crying in the crowd as she couldn't reach the stage, he immediately called her and cheered her up by dancing along with her and giving a peck on her cheek

Anushka and I are very good friends: Ranveer Singh

Newcomer Ranveer Singh, who has debuted in the comedy "Band Baaja Baaraat" opposite actress Anushka Sharma, said the two are "very good friends" and not bothered about rumours that they are romantically linked.

"She and I are very good friends. How can I change that truth just because it sounds cliched? Neither of us is bothered about what people say," Ranveer told IANS.

As for rumours about Ranveer and Anushka, he says: "I was too much into my work to even think about those rumours. I just wanted to perform well. That was my only concern. In fact I was casually dating a girl when that call from Yashraj changed my life. I've never been in a serious relationship so far. And now my career has just started."

"We came from two different schools of filmmaking. I'm a trained actor. She never attended any acting school. As a model she had faced the camera before acting and had already done two films before 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. She is a one-take actor. I believe in lots of rehearsals. And that was very annoying for Anushka because her first take was the best. We had to reach a middleground before we could get along."

"In hindsight I feel I was rehearsing more than necessary because it was my first film. I learnt from her to be spontaneous. But the fact that we had to be at loggerheads on screen was certainly helped by our constant friction in the sets about our approach to acting."

The film was released earlier this month.

"I think after 'Band Baaja Baraat' I need to do a completely contrasting character. Someone who is not loud or opinionated and unsophisticated."

The suffering of waiting is over for this debutant who came in from the outside. "Not since Akshay Kumar and John Abraham has there been a male lead from outside the industry getting such positive reactions. I just hope my example encourages talent from outside. Because right now the perception is outsiders don't stand a chance. I had no reference like mine to give me hope when I was going through my struggle period."

One call from Yash Raj changed my life. "It was completely out of the blue from casting director Shanu Sharma. I remember I was out on a date when Shanu kept calling. I avoided her calls for as long as I could because I had other things on my mind at that moment. Imagine if I had not taken the call from Yash Raj for a fling that lasted exactly 10 days! Anyway the next day I was at Yash Raj doing two scenes. I got called back in three days. Later Adi sir (Aditya Chopra) told me he had made up his mind immediately."

Ranveer is pleased he didn't get a conventional romantic debut. "The story in 'Band Baaja Baaraat' is terrific. And my character Bittu was so much fun for me to play because he's so far removed from my own world. It was more than I could ever ask for. I was more than happy to be a simple character in a simple story. Not too many newcomers can dream of a break like 'Band Baaja Baaraat', certainly not someone unconnected with the film industry."

Catty elements within the industry had spread the rumour that his father, a prosperous businessman, had financed the film.

Confesses the young polite actor: "Yes, that hurt on several levels. Such ugly rumours took away from my pleasure at being the first solo-hero to be launched by Yash Raj. It was upsetting. My father and my family's pride that I had made it on my own got blunted when it was said that they financed my debut film. It was like taking away from my little achievement."

And to think Ranveer thought of changing his name because there was already a Ranbir around. "I am glad I didn't. This is my name. This is my destiny. I'm just so happy ."

Censors wanted Sheila out!

Farah Khan has had a difficult time getting her film, Tees Maar Khan, cleared by the Censor Board Of Film Certification who reportedly raised 18 objections, ranging from the name, Sheila, in the song, Sheila Ki Jawani to calling a “rural character” Doordarshan. Fortunately, thanks to a sensible chairperson, Sharmila Tagore, and a mature Revising Committee, the film was passed with no cuts.

Khan refutes rumours that Sheila was a problem because of the name of the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dixit. “I didn’t find any logic in the argument because aren’t Monica, Sonia or Munni names of people too? So why was Monica o my darling, You are my Sonia and the more recent Munni bandnaam hui passed.”

tees maar khanBut Khan had to beep out the word tawaif (courtesan). Sheila’s naval was also a cause of concern, until Khan pointed out that half the women in the country wore a sari and their stomachs were seen too.

The national flag was another issue even though the director used only the saffron, green and white in her flag and not the chakra: “I didn’t want to offend anyone’s patriotic sensibilities, so I replaced the colours in my flag with red and white.”

She’s also edited out a reference to our national broadcaster. In the film, Akshay Kumar has a problem remembering the name of a character, Dhurinder, and calls him everything, from Dharmesh and D’Souza to Dadar and Doordarshan. The censors weren’t happy with a rural character being called Doordarshan, so Khan changed it to Duryodhan.

There was a difference of opinion over the use of the phrase Maa ki aankh (Hindi expletive) also. Khan had no idea that it was a derogatory term since it was being bandied around openly, even in the promos of Golmaal 3. In Tees Maar Khan, it’s a spontaneous reaction by Kumar.

Khan is upbeat about her Christmas attraction — a charity premiere, the proceeds of which will go to her charity, the Jai Vakil School for the mentally challenged: “Whoever wants to be there on December 23 can buy a ticket since it’s for a good cause.”

Meanwhile, her husband producer-scriptwriter Shirish Kunder has said that the sequel will go on the floors in January 2012. Says Khan, “That’s good since he’ll be the one writing the script again.”

Jacqueline to shed clothes for Murder 2

Aladdin girl Jacqueline Fernandes is all set for a smoking hot makeover, as she drops her clothes for some bold lovemaking scenes in Murder 2. Read on for details. If reports are to be believed Fernanndez has been given the task to recreate the sexy role of Mallika in Murder. The actress will shoot the bedroom scenes with smooch king Emraan Hashmi.

JacquelineMohit Suri, director of Murder 2 tells Mid Day, "I signed her as she fits the role very well. Murder is a brand and I feel Jacqueline carries the sensuality that the character required, very well."

The director reveals why he didn't sign on Mallika Sherawat despite her interest in the project. He informs the tabloid, "We wanted give the project a fresh look. The first Murder also had a new girl (Mallika), which worked. People are also anticipating steamier and more intense love making scenes in the sequel. All I will say is that you will have to wait and watch. As you know, Murder came in 2005. It will be 2011 when Murder 2 will release so obviously the level (sic) will be higher."

Well Mallika, are you ready for fresh competition?

Aamir Khan on Katrina's wish list

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who will soon be seen in Farah Khan's "Tees Maar Khan", says she wants to act opposite Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan for her dream role.

"It's not one, I have three roles which I wish to do. First on the list is a period film, which are not made enough now. Second on my list is a romantic-tragedy - just like "Devdas". And thirdly, I want to do an action film like "Salt" or "Charlie's Angels"," Katrina told reporters here at a press conference of the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010.

When asked with whom she would want to team up, she said: "I want to team up with Aamir. In the last few films the way he has romanced on screen I loved it, specially in "Ghajini".

The star-studded award night is slated to take place Jan 29.
